Reports: Microsoft to Mess with Windows 10 UI

Monroe Horn

According to sources quoted at Windows Central, Microsoft plans to make major changes to the Windows 10 UI in its 2021 October release. The project, code-named "Sun Valley" reportedly aims to bring some of Microsoft's fluent design practices to Windows and make changes to the task bar and start menu (again).

I'm of two minds about this. On the one hand, Windows 10 has been essentially the same for the last three years, which means that parts of the interface are getting stale and could use a bit of a makeover.

On the other hand, Windows 10 has been essentially the same for three years, which means everyone knows how to use it. Any serious changes to the UI could spell trouble for usability. Will the "improvements" be worth the hassle?
